Dan has been the "chief cook and bottle washer" for the company since 1976, when he and his brother Mike Gudzik took over the reins from their father Ken. Dan led the company through the boom years in the 1980s, when we were one of the largest boat dealers in the country, and had four locations on Long Island.
Dan has been happily married to his wife Barbara since 1969, and they have three wonderful children (Gary, Jason, and Kristin) and eight delightful grandchildren (Ariel, Katherine, Harrison, Taylor, Madison, Kenneth, Peyton and Lucas).
Dan graduated from Earl L. Vandermeulen High School (Port Jefferson, NY) in 1966, and attended Athens State University in (Athens, AL). He served in the United States Navy from 1968-1972, and has worked in the family business his entire life.
He enjoys Spanish food and wines, good cigars, and traveling (especially to Europe and the Caribbean). He is part-owner of a wine importer and distributor, Belle Terre Imports, Inc., which imports fine Spanish wines and cavas.
Gary has been working with the company since 1986, when he started part-time in the service department rigging new boats and taking customers for demo rides. In 1992, after returning from college, he began full time work. He has done everything from bottom painting to rigging new boats to shrinkwrapping and engine repairs. He operates the Travelift and forklifts, and also runs the IT department (and he designed and maintains this website). Today, he mostly supervises the office staff, but every once in a while...he gets to come outside and haul a boat or change a starter. He has certificates from Mercury Marine in Marine Technician Fundamentals and several certification-related courses including Corrosion I, Propellers I, Electrical Systems II, CDS Software & Systems, etc. (Mercury Technician ID #NY-4550/12827).
He has been married to his lovely wife Kacie since 1999, and they have four wonderful children (Katie, Harrison, Madison and Kenny). They live in Mount Sinai.
Gary is an ordained minister, and is very active in the Port Jefferson and Mount Sinai communities. He has served as President of the Port Jefferson/Earl L. Vandermeulen High School Alumni Association, as well as a founding member of the PJ/ELVHS Wall of Fame Selection Committee. He was appointed and served as a member of Port Jefferson Village's Marina Waterfront Zoning and Master Plan advisory committees. He is an ex-captain of Suwassett Engine & Hose Co. No. 2, and is currently the Chaplain of the Port Jefferson Fire Department. He is an active Boy Scout leader (Chaplain of Troop 1776, Cubmaster of Pack 1776, both in Mount Sinai) and serves on the Protestant Committee on Scouting for the BSA's Suffolk County Council. He is a Freemason, and is a Past Master, Past Treasurer and Past Secretary of Suffolk Lodge No. 60 (Port Jefferson) and is the Treasurer of Smithtown Lodge No. 1127. He is a Eucharistic Minister and has served as a Sunday School teacher and Vestryman (Junior Warden) of St. Cuthbert's Episcopal Church (Selden), and has been the parish's elected delegate to the Diocesan Convention for three consecutive years.
